Dr Kirstie Ross

MB ChB, MRCEM

Currently working as a senior doctor in Jersey General Hospital Emergency Department. A Geordie lass who trained in Liverpool and moved back to the North East, after my Junior Doctor years.

I have experience in Emergency Medicine which covers all specialties from Pain Management to Psychiatry to Gynaecology.

I am fascinated by the numerous benefits, proven and potential, of the emerging field of Medicinal Cannabis.

I am particularly keen to ensure clinical standards and good medical practice, expected in other established fields of medicine, are embedded in our service.

Dr Patrick Mythen

BMBS

Known by everyone, except for my grandparents, as Paddy. I was born and raised in West London before moving to the South West of England to study medicine at the University of Exeter Medical School. During my time in Devon and Cornwall I found a great love for the outdoors and made the decision to move to Jersey in 2018 where I worked in the general hospital for 3 years. I have worked in a variety of specialties as part of my medical training but have a particular interest in Acute and Emergency Medicine. I have also been a part of Jersey's Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit and have often been involved in the care of many oncology and palliative care patients.

I have been trained in the prescription of Medical Cannabis and the various treatment options by leading expert Professor Mike Barnes of the Medical Cannabis Clinician’s Society. I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting new field of medicine and am hoping to be able to provide an alternative treatment option to many people in Jersey with various health conditions.

In my spare time I am a keen surfer, skier and runner.

Dr Chris Brown

Dr Chris Brown

BMedSci

Hailing from Glasgow, Dr Chris Brown studied for his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Edinburgh, where he also undertook an intercalated BMedSci in Pharmacology. He completed his foundation training in Jersey and has worked at the interface of acute medicine and cardiology here ever since. Alongside his clinical work, he is active in digital health research through University College London.

Cannabis has been used medicinally for centuries, although it has only recently become possible to prescribe medicinal cannabis. Dr Brown is passionate about enabling its potential to improve lives, for instance, through the evidence-based benefits of cannabis in treating chronic pain, nausea, and spasticity. He has been trained in cannabis-based medicinal products and is a Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society member.

Outside work, he spends his time outdoors and is often found running Jersey's cliff paths. He sees running to be the perfect counterpart to his voracious appetite for all things food.
